Nazim resigns as president’s policy secretary

Abdulla Nazim resigned on Monday from his post as Policy Secretary at the President’s Office.

Government spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef told Dhauru that Nazim submitted his resignation on Monday morning.

Shareef said he was not aware of the specific reason for the resignation. However, he said it came after a decision was made to make changes to the administrative structure of the President’s Office and that Nazim had been informed of the changes.

Nazim initially served in President Mohamed Muizzu’s administration as Public Policy Secretary at the President’s Office.

He was appointed Minister of Health on 30 September 2024 as part of changes to the Cabinet.

Nazim later resigned as Health Minister on 14 April, when 10 ministers stepped down following the government’s poor performance in the local council elections.

He was subsequently appointed for a second time to a secretary-level post at the President’s Office, with the rank of minister.
