Police have detained four Maldivian men, including three individuals involved in the film industry, as part of an ongoing anti-narcotics operation in Vilimalé.
According to police, the four men were taken into custody for questioning and screening as part of the operation.
"Three of those taken into custody are individuals active in the film industry," police said, without disclosing their identities.
However, information obtained separately indicates that those detained include Ahmed Azmeel, also known as Azey; Ismail Jumaih; Mohamed Vishal, known as Roman; and a younger brother of Azmeel.
Police have not officially confirmed the identities of the four individuals.
Authorities said further information regarding those detained would be released at a later stage.
Police have not disclosed whether any drugs were recovered during the operation or whether criminal charges are being considered against those detained.
