4 film actors remanded for 15 days over drug trafficking in Vilimalé
Those arrested were Ahmed Azmeel, known as Azey; Ismail Jumaih; Mohamed Vishal, known as Roman; and Shahil Mohamed, identified as a younger brother of Azmeel.
The Criminal Court has remanded four people, including Maldivian film actors, for 15 days following their arrest during a police operation in Vilimalé on Thursday, on suspicion of drug trafficking and dealing.
The allegations were disclosed in separate detention orders issued by the Criminal Court on Friday.
Those arrested were Ahmed Azmeel, known as Azey; Ismail Jumaih; Mohamed Vishal, known as Roman; and Shahil Mohamed, identified as a younger brother of Azmeel.
According to the court orders, police officers who attended the scene reported finding drugs openly displayed in a room occupied by the four suspects.
The orders stated that the quantity of drugs recovered from the room exceeded the threshold for drug trafficking offences. However, the documents did not specify the type or exact quantity of the substances seized.
The court orders also indicated that three of the suspects — Azmeel, Vishal and Shahil — had previous arrest records.
The Criminal Court issued separate orders remanding each of the four suspects in custody for 15 days while police continue their investigation.
