The Ministry of Housing said in an announcement on Thursday that the plots would be sold under the regulations governing the sale of state-owned land acquired through the Veshifahi Malé programme.

The ministry said applications would open on Sunday, 8 November, for interested parties among the heirs of the original plots and owners of neighbouring properties.

A total of 49 plots have been identified for sale across Malé and Vilimalé.

The plots are distributed as follows:

  • Maafannu: 21 plots

  • Machchangolhi: 10 plots

  • Galolhu: 8 plots

According to the ministry, the plots will be sold at a fixed price of MVR 2,000 per square foot.

Interested applicants must submit the prescribed application form and supporting documents by 2pm on 8 December 2026.

The ministry said maps showing the plots available for purchase would be published on its website from Sunday.

The sale will be conducted in accordance with the regulations on the sale of land acquired by the state under the Veshifahi Malé programme, which were published in the Government Gazette on 28 June 2021.
