President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is honouring the agreement signed by the parties and political leaders that backed the president's candidacy at the 2018 elections, presidential spokesperson Miuvan Mohamed said Thursday.
Some coalition leaders complain frequently that the current administration is not implementing the coalition agreement. Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim has expressed concern over the situation, saying that not even 10% of the deal has been achieved.
Speaking to reporters at the President's Office Thursday afternoon, Miuvan rejected Maamigili MP Gasim's remarks.
"Since I don't know exactly what he's referring to, I am unable to make any specific comments on the matter," he said.
"The president is most certainly following the coalition agreement. The government will uphold what has been agreed upon in the coalition agreement."
Gasim’s concern is the reduction in the number of people belonging to the coalition parties in government jobs. He said that the government had not employed JP members even close to what the coalition agreement stipulated. He described it as an agreement "in name only".
