Digital ID trial opens with 500 Android app slots

A total of 500 people will be allowed to experience the service before the launch of digital ID.
To give the opportunity to those who want to experience their digital ID card, the application process is open on Wednesday.
The government had in February 2022 decided to introduce a digital identity system in the country.
The World Bank last year gave USD 10 million to develop the country's technology industry, including digital ID cards.
The government had earlier said that it was working on introducing digital IDs in the last quarter of last year.
However, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said in his presidential address on February 6 that digital ID and 'One-Gov' service will be launched next month.
