Haroon Rasheed has been removed as Managing Director of Agro National Corporation (AgroNat), the state-owned agriculture promotion company, and transferred to Maldives Fund Management Corporation (MFMC).
AgroNat is a subsidiary of MFMC. The company was incorporated on April 21, 2020.
An economic ministry official told Atoll Times Thursday that Haroon was transferred to MFMC for AgroNat restructuring. The official, however, did not say which post he was transferred to in the MFMC.
Haroon and MFMC could not be reached for comment.
Haroon's appointment comes at a time when several MDP members supporting party president Mohamed Nasheed are being removed from government posts from among the two factions that have emerged within the party.
Mohamed Shifaz, a minister at the President's Office, was sacked from the post on Wednesday. On Sunday, Hussain Amr was removed from the post of STO Managing Director.
Haroon, who was replaced on Thursday, is also a supporter of Nasheed. He also backed Nasheed in the party's presidential primary in January.
