Abdul Raheem Abdulla, who is in charge of PPM-PNC coalition, lashed out at former presidents Mohamed Nasheed and Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik on Sunday, saying that no matter how hard they try to divide the main opposition coalition, there is no chance of it.

Abdul Raheem lashed out at Nasheed and Waheed without naming them, at a campaign rally held in Ihavandhoo.

"I want to tell those who are saying that PPM-PNC members are homeless, the people who left PPM-PNC are on the road," Abdul Raheem said in response to Waheed.

"There is no leader in the PPM-PNC leadership who will leave the party for not achieving a particular goal, for not getting a particular position."

Waheed expressed interest in PPM’s presidential ticket after former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, who was given the PPM ticket for the upcoming presidential election, could not contest.

Waheed left the party on Thursday after PPM decided to continue with its coalition party PNC’s candidate Dr Mohamed Muizz. Waheed signed up for the JP at a rally held in Maamigili on Saturday evening.

At the rally, Waheed described PPM-PNC members as homeless, and called on the PPM-PNC members to vote for JP leader Gasim Ibrahim.

Meanwhile, speaker Mohamed Nasheed, who led the formation of the Democrats party, recently urged PPM members to vote for the Democrats' candidate, MP Ilyas Labeeb.

Responding to them, Abdul Raheem said that PPM-PNC members know who they want to vote, and that all members will vote for Muizz.

"We will vote for the candidate that President Yameen has shown. We will vote for Muizz. We will vote for candidate number 4," Abdul Raheem said, adding that the election will be won in the first round.

"We don't want to vote for leaders of smaller parties."
