Over 300 get land in Maafushi
According to the Maafushi council, the land has been allocated to people who are registered in the island.

More than 300 people have been allocated land from K. Maafushi, with the list published on Monday.
With the boost in local tourism businesses, the land is full and the demand and price of land in Maafushi has become extremely high. The reclaimed land, which covers about 25 hectares, is connected to Maafushi.
Maafushi, the second most land-expensive island in the country, announced the allocation of land in March last year. The names of 308 people who received land were announced in the gazette on Monday.
According to the Maafushi council, the land has been allocated to people who are registered in the island.
This is the first time in years that land has been allocated from Maafushi.

The requirements for applicants are:

Be 18 years of age or older

Not be a person who has acquired or registered in his name any land, private land or any portion of such land exceeding 600 feet

If such land exists and contains less than 600 acres, the land shall be forgone

A flat in a government-built building is not registered in the person's name; if such a flat existed, its registration must have been changed and the property must have been vacated or sold for more than two years
