Mental health centre opened at Hulhumale hospital
The purpose of opening the centre is to expand access to mental healthcare.

A mental health centre has been opened at Hulhumale hospital.
The centre was officially inaugurated by First Lady Fazna Ahmed on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. The centre is located at Kanbili Building in Hulhumale hospital.

The Hulhumale mental health centre has:

Two consultation rooms

Two treatment rooms
-
One conference room
-
Psychiatry, psychology, counselling and online consultation services

30 patients to be seen by a doctor per day

Therapy services will be available for 12-15 per day
The centre is serviced by a total of seven employees including:

Two psychiatrists
-
Two clinical psychologists
-
One counsellor
-
Two administrative staff
According to the President's Office, the Hulhumale mental health centre will be open from 8am to 10pm. It will also provide 24-hour on-call services through a psychiatrist.

Appointments can be made by calling 1417 anytime of the day

The centre will be closed two days a week, including Fridays
Meanwhile, the waitlist at the Mental Health Centre established at IGMH has decreased to 510 from its high of 3,500 in March and April.
