The waitlist at the Mental Health Centre established at IGMH has decreased to 510 from its high of 3,500 in March and April, government data showed on Monday.
According to the President's Office, the number of doctors working at the Mental Health Centre has been increased from seven to eight since July.
Statistics show that the number of people who consulted the mental health centre since it opened in March 2019 has exceeded 55,000:

2019 - 7,246 people

2020 - 17,708 people

2021 - 16,936 people

By the end of last month - 13,718 people
A total of 125 people have been admitted at the centre this year. The figure stood at 232 last year.
Meanwhile, the government on Monday opened a mental health centre at Hulhumale hospital to mark World Mental Health Day. There are:

One conference room

Psychiatry, psychology, counselling and online consultation services

30 patients to be seen by a doctor per day
