President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Abdullah Fayaz, G. Hiyala/Male, as the Chief of Staff at the President's Office on Friday evening.
The President handed over the letter of appointment to Fayaz at a ceremony held at the President's Office.
President Muizzu was the Housing Minister in the previous government while Fayaz was his Deputy Minister. Fayaz has since served as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport.
The Chief of Staff is the person with the highest responsibility for the administration of the President's Office, on the advice of the President and Vice-President.
