In a bid to ensure power security in the greater Male region and reduce power outages, a project called 'Sixth Power Development Project' has been launched.
State Electric Company (STELCO) Managing Director Hussain Fahumy said this on Wednesday at a meeting with employees involved in power generation works in Male and Hulhumale.
STELCO said in a post on 'X' that the project will start within the next 100 days.
In addition to announcing the project, he also thanked the employees for their role in running STELCO.
Many people complain about the occasional power outages in the Male area.
The most common power outages in the city are in the Hiyaa towers in the second phase of Hulhumale. These are tall buildings and there are many people living there. Every time there is a power problem, STELCO is criticized heavily.
