President Mohamed Muizzu on Saturday decided to disclose the details of the expenditure on official trips within 15 days of the end of each trip.

The decision was announced in a post from the X handle of the President’s Office.

In a message to the media, minister at the president's office Ibrahim Khaleel said the president had taken the decision because journalists always face difficulties in obtaining information on official visits.

Previously, the expenses of the president's official visits have not been disclosed. The information must be requested by submitting it to the Information Commissioner under the Right to Information Act.

President Muizzu, who took office on November 17, undertook his first official visit to Turkey last week. After that, he is currently in Dubai to attend the ongoing climate change conference, COP28.
