Nasheed appointed to parliament's heritage committee
Nasheed served as the speaker of parliament for the past four years until his resignation early November amid a no-confidence motion.
Former speaker of parliament Mohamed Nasheed has been included in the national development and heritage committee of the parliament.
The Democrats, to whom Nasheed belongs, have proposed to replace some of the members who are currently in the committee slots allocated to the party.
Among the proposed changes, speaker Mohamed Aslam announced in Wednesday's sitting:

National development and heritage committee - to replace Maafannu Central MP Ibrahim Rasheed with Machangolhi Central MP Nasheed

Social committee - to replace Hulhudhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb with Maafannu Central MP Ibrahim Rasheed
Nasheed, who has served as the speaker of parliament for the past four years until his resignation early November amid a no-confidence motion, is on a committee for the first time in the 19th parliament. The speaker of parliament does not serve on any committees.
Nasheed is known for his love of history and culture. He has also written several books in the field.
