Brigadier General Ibrahim Hilmy has been appointed as the Vice Chief of Defence Force.
The MNDF made the announcement on X, but did not provide any details.

President Mohamed Muizzu appointed Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef as the Chief of Defence Force on the night of his inauguration on November 17. President Muizzu also promoted Abdul Raheem to the rank of Lieutenant General on Sunday.
Hamid Shafeeq and Vais Waheed, who were promoted to the rank of Major General in the previous government, retired on Tuesday after more than 33 years of service.
