Parliament to convene extraordinary sitting on Sunday
The sitting is expected to take the approval vote on the new government ministers.

In addition to approving the cabinet of President Mohamed Muizzu, Maldives Democratic Party (MDP)'s amendments to the general election law have been included on the agenda of an extraordinary parliament sitting that has been scheduled for Sunday next.
Henveiru West MP and Democrats President Hassan Latheef said at a press conference on Wednesday that the MDP and the Democrats have proposed to hold a sitting before the opening of parliament for the new year on the 5th of next month.
The agenda of the sitting has now been posted on the parliament website.
The agenda for Sunday’s sitting, which begins at 9 am, includes:

First reading of the amendment to the Land Act moved by Galolhu South MP Mikail Naseem

First reading of the bill on the General Elections Act
In addition, the committee's decision on the changes in the scope of work of three ministries and the approval of ministers was also included.
The sitting is expected to take the approval vote on the new government ministers.
Last December, parliament went on recess without deciding on the approval of the new government ministers. The MDP started collecting signatures to hold a session during the parliamentary recess, but it was delayed at some point.
