Ex-VP Faisal joins MDP
Faisal will be involved in the MDP campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections, Solih said.

Former Vice President Faisal Naseem, joined main opposition Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) on Thursday.
The first Vice President to complete his five-year-term, Faisal joined MDP at a special meeting held at the party's office in the presence of former President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih and Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail.
Speaking at the meeting, Faisal said he was very happy to join MDP. He also said that he has always believed in the policies of MDP and followed the party's ideology. He said:

He started his political career 20 years ago

He registered with the MDP in 2005 and remained a member of the MDP until 2008

This party was my first party
Faisal was elected to the Kaashidhoo constituency in the 18th Parliament on the ticket of Jumhoory Party (JP). Faisal also got the post of Vice President in the last MDP government in a JP slot.
Faisal said he joined JP in 2008 as a step towards meeting a common goal.
"However, there has been no change in ideology, no change in policy. Twenty years have passed and the same work has been done with the same mindset," Faisal said.

The MDP has always known the feelings of the people and works closely with them
Speaking at the meeting, Solih said Faisal had worked very hard and honestly with him in the government for the past five years. He described Faisal as a "reliable person".
“I think, with Faisal joining MDP, the party will get more courage [and] more enthusiasm,” he said.
Faisal will be involved in the campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections, he said.
