Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded the contract to build hospitals in M.Muli, N.Manadhoo and R.Alifushi.

The agreement for the construction of the hospital was signed at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health on Saturday.

The Health Ministry said the new hospitals in these three islands will solve the space constraints faced by the health centres in these islands. The centres will be able to provide all the services required of such establishments.

This will also provide relief to the people seeking health services in these islands and nearby islands, he said.

Under this agreement:

  • A 50-bed hospital will be built in Muli and Manadhoo

  • Price MVR 185 million

  • Duration of work 2 years

  • A 30-bed hospital is being built in Alifushi

  • The price is MVR 128 million

  • Duration of work 730 days

These hospitals will be developed with a flu clinic and isolation facility to ensure that the hospital can continue its operations during an outbreak such as Covid-19.
