Parliament sittings resume after election
For Tuesday's session, the first reading of four bills have been scheduled.

The sittings of the Parliament, which were adjourned for the last ten days, are scheduled to resume on Tuesday.
Parliament sittings were adjourned on the 1st of this month after the last 10 days of Ramadan were declared as public holidays. The sessions would resume after the Eid holiday, the secretariat had then announced.
This is the first session to be held after the opposition suffered a huge defeat in Sunday's parliamentary elections and the government secured a super majority in the next parliament.
For Tuesday's session, the first reading of four bills have been scheduled. These include two bills to amend the Constitution. The two bills are:

Rozaina Adam, who lost her 20th term seat in the MDP primary, has proposed an amendment to the Constitution to reserve 33% of the seats in parliament for women

Henveiru West MP Hassan Latheef, who lost his 20th term seat in the last parliamentary elections, has proposed an anti-defection amendment to the Constitution
The other two bills scheduled to be introduced in Parliament are:

The Higher Education and Training Act Amendment Bill, 2013, moved by Ihavandhoo MP Mohammed Shifau

The Employment Act Amendment Bill, moved by Ahmed Haitham, MP for Mahchangolhi South
In addition, debates on three bills are also scheduled for Tuesday.
