MET office has issued fresh alerts for central and eastern islands, forecasting the bad weather to continue for the next three days.
The office on Wednesday morning has also issued an Orange Warning for Strong winds of 34-40mph and gust winds of 55mph and rough seas from Baa Atoll to Vaavu Atoll which includes the capital.
"We advise all passengers traveling through Velana International Airport to take precautionary measures and stay updated on your flight status," airport operator Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said in a post on X.
Due to bad weather, several flights, both domestic and international have been delayed since Tuesday.
