President Dr Mohammed Muizzu met with Indian President Droupadi Murmu on Monday.
President Muizzu, who on his visit India for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met President Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India in New Delhi.
During the meeting, the leaders of both countries stressed the importance of working together for the development and prosperity of India and Maldives.

Murmu said that President Muizzu's presence at Modi's swearing-in ceremony at such short notice was a reflection of the close ties between the two countries

She also congratulated the Muizzu government's super majority in the last parliamentary elections

She said she was keen to contribute to the development of the country under the 'Neighbourhood First Policy' of the Government of India
During the meeting, President Muizzu thanked the Government of India for its assistance to Maldives. He also asked that the two countries maintain the historical friendship and further strengthen ties in various fields.
