Maldives ex-pres Nasheed attends star studded Ambani wedding
The lavish celebrations, attended by global celebrities, business tycoons, and politicians, have drawn both awe and criticism.
Maldives'former president Mohammed Nasheed has attended Asia's richest man Mukesh Ambani's youngest son, Anant Ambani’s wedding ceremony.
Anant and Radhika Merchant's grand wedding ceremony was held on July 12, 2024 at the Ambani-owned Jio World Convention Center and family home in Mumbai.
The wedding ceremony was attended by famous personalities in entertainment, sports, business and politics, both from India and across the globe.
No other Maldivian politician was invited to the ceremony. The leaked guest list also does not include the name of a Maldivian politician other than Nasheed. Nasheed has always maintained close relations with India.
Former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair, Boris Johnson and former US Secretary of State John Kerry were among the foreign politicians who attended the ceremony.

According to some foreign newspapers, Anant and Radhika's wedding cost USD 320 million (MVR 4.9 billion). About half of the entire wedding budget was spent on pre-wedding celebrations.
The activities began on March first. Festive events included the construction of a glass palace, a sky show featuring over 5,000 drones, and performances by Hollywood and Bollywood artists, as well as luxurious cruises.
