16 expat workers arrested from 4 Male areas

More than 2,000 expatriate workers have been deported.

Immigration on Thursday arrested 16 expatriate workers in four places in capital Male.

Immigration said in a post on 'X' that the arrests were made in a joint operation conducted by the agency and police.

The Immigration has conducted a special operation to track down illegal immigrants.

  • More than 2,000 foreigners have been deported

  • A large number of foreigners are in immigration custody

  • The necessary steps are being taken to deport them

The joint operations by the police and immigration are currently targeting:

  • Prostitution places

  • Takeaway coffee places

  • Small businesses run by foreigners

  • Suspected human traffickers

A portal called 'Immigration Watch' has also been launched to report illegal immigrants and immigration-related issues.

Through the portal:

  • Anyone can report illegal immigrants

  • Foreigners trying to smuggle into Maldives can be reported

  • Problems can be reported within 24 hours

  • Information can be submitted with photo
