Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) Vice President Mohamed Firaz has been sacked.
Firaz was sacked on Thursday, but the reason for this is not known.
The President appoints and dismisses members of the PCB. Firaz was appointed to the PCB in 2022 by then President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. His term expires in 2026.
The PCB confirmed the dismissal of Firaz in an X post and thanked him for his services to the board.
In his X post, Firaz said he was satisfied with the work he had done on the board. He also thanked President Mohamed Muizzu for providing him with the opportunity to work in this government.
According to the PCB Act, the board of the agency consists of seven members appointed by the President. The appointments to the board must be approved by the parliament.
