Immigration Department said on Sunday that more than 4,000 illegal immigrants have been deported in the past 10 months.

The official data shows that 4,054 individuals have been deported between November 2023 and September 17.

According to the statistics, the largest number of deportations took place in June, when 690 foreigners were sent back to their home countries. Since then, deportations have continued at a steady pace, with a significant number of illegal immigrants being deported each month.

As of September 17, a total of 663 individuals have been deported this month alone.

In an effort to crack down on illegal immigration, the Immigration Department has intensified its operations. These operations have targeted large-scale illegal traders as well as individuals who had been evading authorities for extended periods. Recent efforts have led to the arrest and subsequent deportation of many individuals involved in these activities.

The department emphasised its commitment to enforcing immigration laws and maintaining the integrity of the nation's borders.
