Govt moves to criminalise gambling under Penal Code

Gambling is not currently listed as an offence under the existing Penal Code, which defines criminal conduct in the Maldives.

High Court rules that custody cannot be reviewed on appeal

Since detainees under Article 199 of the Penal Code are detained at the appeal stage, they have the opportunity to apply for bail.
