President Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday dismissed Hamdhy Ageel from his position as President of the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB).

The reason for the decision has not been announced.

Hamdhy was appointed to the post on 22 November 2023.

Before his tenure at the PCB, he served as the Managing Director of the Road Development Corporation (RDC) and Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM).

The dismissal follows the issuance of two circulars by the PCB to state-owned companies. One circular addressed the payment of Ramadan allowance, while the other outlined measures for reducing corporate expenses.

The PCB had instructed government-owned companies not to provide additional monetary benefits in the form of gifts to employees during Ramadan and to implement cost-cutting measures.
