The Green Fund had a balance of MVR 1.6 billion at the end of last year, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The fund spent MVR 172.1 million on various projects during the year.
The Finance Ministry's Green Fund statistics, released on Thursday, show that MVR 110 million was deposited into the fund by the end of the year. Combined with a carried-forward balance of MVR 1.2 billion from 2024, the total stood at MVR 1.6 billion.
The fund was utilised for 39 projects, including:

The largest expenditure of MVR 12.5 million was allocated for the Fuvahmulah Shore Protection Project.

Water and sewerage projects in 16 islands received MVR 179.8 million.
The fund’s expenditure exceeded deposits by MVR 63 million last year.
