President Muizzu has arrived in the United Kingdom for the official launch of the Visit Maldives campaign. Former President Maumoon, a long-time Liverpool supporter, commented on X, calling President Mohamed Muizzu's participation in the launch event at Anfield "deeply moving."
The campaign will be launched at 11:30 PM ahead of Liverpool’s match against Everton at Anfield. The event will be broadcast live on TVM and Ice TV.
The initiative is part of a three-and-a-half-year campaign led by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to promote Maldives as a tourism destination.
During the visit, President Muizzu will:

Visit Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre to observe football training and coaching

Explore opportunities to facilitate high-performance training in the Maldives

Meet Maldivian students in the UK

Visit the University of Leeds and Leeds Town Hall for discussions with Leeds City Council representatives.
Liverpool, currently leading the Premier League by 12 points, will face Everton in a match that is expected to draw significant attention.
