Passengers departing from the Maldives are now permitted to carry one general-purpose lighter, following a change in regulations.
Previously, passengers were prohibited from carrying lighters on board aircraft. The updated rule aligns with the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Under the revised regulation, each passenger may carry one lighter in their hand or pocket, provided it falls within the category of non-dangerous goods as outlined in the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) Prohibited Items List, ICAO Technical Instructions and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
