Immigration on Monday scrapped the requirement for Maldivian citizens to complete the Traveler Declaration Form or Imuga, which is required to be completed when leaving and entering the country.
The declaration, which includes information on the countries of travel and airline information, was introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Many people find it a burden to complete this declaration long after the outbreak.
Mohamed Shamran, who took over as Immigration Controller on Sunday, has given an exemption for Maldivians from filling out the form.
Immigration said the form was scrapped to make it easier for Maldivian citizens to travel.
Although Maldivians are not required to fill out this form, foreigners coming from abroad and foreigners leaving Maldives will have to complete this form.
