The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has reduced official working hours for its administrative staff during Ramadan and amended overtime payment rules.
According to a circular issued to employees, administrative staff will work four hours and 30 minutes per day during the first seven days of Ramadan and the first seven days of Shawwal. Official working hours during this period will be from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, with a grace period between 9:00 am and 9:30 am.
The circular states that working hours for duty staff will be determined by the respective department or section.
MACL, which operates Velana International Airport, has also revised overtime payment rules for Ramadan. Under the new arrangement, overtime will only be paid if an employee’s working hours exceed 48 hours in a week. Work carried out outside official hours that does not exceed this threshold will not be eligible for overtime payment.
The circular notes that overtime payments for work exceeding 48 hours per week will be processed in the same manner as in other months.
