Ministry sets prohibited hours for goods transport in Ramadan
Violations of the notice can result in a fine of MVR 750 under the law.
The Ministry of Transport has announced prohibited hours for the transport of goods in Malé during the month of Ramadan.
The ministry designates restricted hours each year to manage traffic in the city. The hours have been published in the government gazette.
According to the ministry, the driving and transport of vehicles and heavy vehicles will be prohibited in Malé, Hulhumalé and Vilimalé during the stated periods. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Government offices and schools will close during the last 10 days of Ramadan. The ministry stated that the same hours will apply during the seven fasting days observed from 1 to 7 Shawwal.
Violations of the notice can result in a fine of MVR 750 under the law.
