Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer has announced that two fuel shipments are scheduled to arrive in the Maldives next week.

The announcement was made on Sunday during a press conference held by a Cabinet Committee established to address the impact of global fuel price increases and supply disruptions linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking at the briefing, Zameer said the shipments, ordered by the State Trading Organisation (STO), are expected to arrive on separate dates. The first shipment is scheduled to arrive from Singapore between 2 and 3 April, while the second shipment is expected from Oman between 4 and 5 April.

Zameer stated that there are no current issues in securing fuel supply. He said the government is working to manage domestic prices in response to global market conditions.

“Even if global market prices approach $160, we are working to provide fuel at an affordable rate by subsidising the costs,” he said.

Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed also stated that two fuel shipments were received last week.

According to STO, the latest shipment included sufficient diesel and petrol to meet demand for 17 days. The company stated that future shipments are expected to arrive as scheduled.
