Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) shareholders on Monday approved a dividend of MVR 0.50 per share from the company’s profit for 2025.

The dividend was approved at MTDC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at Hotel Jen on Monday night.

MTDC recorded a net profit of USD 2.5 million in 2025, compared with USD 1.92 million in the previous year.

The company’s revenue, however, declined by 1.86 per cent, from USD 5.2 million in 2024 to USD 5.1 million in 2025.

MTDC derives much of its revenue from lease payments for islands allocated for resort development, including Kihavah Huravalhi and Magudhva.

Shareholders also elected five directors at Monday’s AGM to represent public shareholders on the company’s Board of Directors.

Those elected were Aminath Azlifa, Aishath Liza, Minna Rasheed, Ahmed Muizzu and Ibrahim Latheef.

MTDC was established as a public-private partnership to facilitate investment and participation in tourism development.

The Government of Maldives holds 47 per cent of the company’s shares, while the remaining 53 per cent is held by public shareholders.
