Ahmed Shaheer, who was removed as chairman of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Thursday, has been appointed chairman of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).

The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) said Tuesday that Shaheer had also been appointed to MTDC’s board of directors.

Shaheer previously served as chairman of Fenaka Corporation under the current administration.

MTDC is jointly owned by the government and the public. The government holds a 47 per cent stake and appoints four of the company’s nine directors. The remaining five directors represent private shareholders.

Shaheer replaces Abdullah Faiz, whose term as MTDC chairman has ended. Faiz has been appointed chairman of MFLC.
