HDC chairman Shaheer, CFO Sameeh removed
Sources said the two officials were removed after disagreements with senior figures over their insistence that the company operate with its procedures.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) chairman Ahmed Shaheer and chief financial officer Ahmed Sameeh have been removed from their posts, according to sources.
Both men were dismissed on Thursday.
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB), which oversees state-owned enterprises, removed Shaheer as chairman. HDC thanked him for his service in a post on X on Sunday.
Sameeh’s removal was decided at an HDC board meeting held on Thursday. The company has yet to announce the decision.
Sources said the two officials were removed after disagreements with senior figures over their insistence that the company operate in accordance with its procedures.
“The dissatisfaction with Shaheer and Sameeh arose because they did not act as some officials wanted,” a source familiar with the matter said. “It was said that they did not cooperate, but the reality is that they insisted on following procedures.”
HDC has not commented on the reasons for the removals. The PCB told some media outlets that Shaheer was removed to transfer him to another state-owned company.
Shaheer was appointed HDC chairman in May last year. He was the third person appointed to the position during the current administration and served longer than the other chairmen appointed during the period.
Sameeh was appointed chief financial officer last year. He previously served as an HDC director and had worked at the company for several years. He has qualifications and experience in accounting.
