HDC says parking slots allocated through public bidding process
HDC said the allocation process is being carried out in line with government policy.
The Housing Development Corporation has stated that the allocation of parking slots in Hulhumalé is being conducted through a public bidding process.
The statement was issued following allegations that more than 600 parking slots were allocated through unofficial means to raise funds for election-related activities. The corporation has rejected the claims.
In a press release issued on Thursday, HDC said the allocation process is being carried out in line with government policy.
The corporation stated that public announcements were made regarding the allocation of parking spaces in different areas of Hulhumalé.
It added that a number of applications were received and that all applicants were assessed under established procedures. The list of eligible applicants has been published.
HDC stated that the process is being conducted through public tender.
The corporation said it is concerned about the circulation of information related to the allocation process and stated that such matters may be referred to relevant authorities for investigation.
HDC added that it will continue the allocation process based on its procedures.
