Maldives' 2023 tourist arrivals cross 300,000

308,367 tourists arrived in the Maldives by Tuesday; this is an increase of 27.6% over the same period last year.

The number of tourists arriving in the Maldives this year has crossed 300,000, official figures show.

According to the latest statistics released by the tourism ministry on Friday, 308,367 tourists arrived in the Maldives by Tuesday. This is an increase of 27.6% over the same period last year.

A total of 2,41,750 tourists arrived in the same period last year.

According to the figures, an average of 5,930 tourists currently arrive in the Maldives every day, with tourist spending 8.1 days on average in the country.

Top five source markets:

  • Russia – 39,262 tourists (12.8% of total tourists)

  • India – 33,561 tourists (10.9% of total tourists)

  • UK - 28,876 (9.4% of total tourists)

  • Italy – 28,426 tourists (9.2% of total tourists)

  • Germany – 19,914 tourists (6.5% of total tourists)

France, the United States, China, Switzerland and Poland also feature among the top 10 source markets for Maldives tourism.

According to the tourism ministry, there are currently 1,221 tourist facilities operating in the Maldives. It has 60,826 beds.

Currently, 36 international airlines operate scheduled flights to the Maldives.
