Second phase of Thilafushi land reclamation begins
Under the project, work has started on Areas A, B, E and F of the second phase of dredging.
The second phase of land reclamation at the industrial island of K. Thilafushi began on Thursday, Urbanco said on Sunday.
Under the project, work has started on Areas A, B, E and F of the second phase of dredging.
Urbanco, which contracted China Harbour Engineering Company, began dredging Area B on Thursday.
Under the second phase, dredging will be carried out:

Area A - 71.5 hectares

Area B - 39.6 hectares

Area E - 5.9 hectares

Area F - 0.73 ha
Urbanco said in a statement on Sunday that the land is being dredged and developed as part of its efforts to transform Thilafushi into an industrial hub in the Male region.
The project will boost Maldives' industrial activities, Urbanco said. The company also said that the relocation of industrial activities from Male to Thilafushi will reduce the adverse impacts on the environment.
