The government has spent MVR 30 billion in the past nine months, amounting to 81% of the total budget approved for the year.
Statistics released by the finance ministry on Saturday show:

MVR 30.2 billion was spent in nine months

MVR 36.9 billion approved as state budget for the year; 81% of the approved budget has been spent

MVR 3.3 billion spent per month

MVR 10.5 billion was spent on recurrent expenses and MVR 7.1 billion on capital expenditure
The revenue budgeted for this year is MVR 24.2 billion. MVR 20.3 billion has been received as revenue over the past nine months.
However, the government has failed to obtain the budgeted grant aid:

MVR 2.9 billion was budgeted as grant aid this year

Only MVR 271.6 million was received in the past nine months
Meanwhile, MVR 2.4 billion had been spent on repayment of loans, while interest and other debt financing expenses stood at MVR 2.7 billion in the past nine months.
