Jets fill airport for New Year holidays
The parking spaces were developed under MACL's project to cater to the demand for air travel to Maldives during the winter holidays.

Jets used by wealthy tourists have filled the Velana International Airport (VIA).
Every year, a large number of tourists visit Maldives during the New Year and winter holidays. These include tourists arriving on private jets.
Maldives' main airport, VIA, is preparing for this year's winter holidays. The airport has added to jet parking and the airport operator MACL said it is fully prepared for the super peak season. The MACL said:

1.8 million tourists have visited Maldives so far this year. During this period, an average of 6,000-7,000 tourists visit Maldives daily, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
