Tourist arrivals for 2022 in the Maldives have exceeded a million, and on Friday, August 12, the millionth tourist was welcomed with pomp.

The millionth tourist to Maldives this year; 29-year-old Daniela Kilnarova from the Czech Republic arrived at the Velana International Airport (VIA) on Friday morning via Qatar Airways, and she was received with prestige by top Tourism Ministry officials, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

Lit up with the honour of being the millionth tourist of 2022, Daniela said that this is her third time visiting Maldives. She had first arrived to the tantalising shores of the Maldives a decade ago. She will be holidaying in Robinson Club Noonu this time.

Apart from the love she was received with at the VIA, she was also given a special gift, to commemorate her lucky arrival. She said the Maldives is a second-to-none destination.

Maldives has targeted 1.6 million tourist arrivals for this year, and with the millionth having entered already, the Tourism Ministry predicts the target to be reached completely by November 2022, since we have our Peak Season ahead.
