BML-issued Visa cards face interruptions in online shopping
BML said the issue was due to an ongoing essential upgrade to enhance the security of the cards and payment gateway.
Customers will face interruptions in using Bank of Maldives (BML) issued Visa debit and credit cards on some international e-commerce merchants, the bank announced Sunday.
In a statement, BML said the issue was due to an ongoing essential upgrade to enhance the security of the cards and payment gateway.
Customers can continue to use their Visa cards at ATMs and POS machines abroad, the bank added.
"We are working swiftly to resume the service and we will inform our customers once this is completed," the statement read.
"We apologise for any inconvenience and sincerely thank our customers for their patience."
The move comes amid increasing number of scams targeting BML cards and internet banking services where scammers gain access to personal information of customers through fraudulent means and use their funds. Many have complained about losing thousands to such scams.
