Bank of Maldives to set up ATMs in all islands by 2026
As part of the project, BML on Thursday opened two new ATMs at ADh. Hangnaameedhoo and Omadhoo.
Bank of Maldives (BML) on Thursday announced an ambitious initiative to install ATMs in all inhabited islands by the end of year 2025.
The Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM project was inaugurated by the President Mohamed Muizzu at an event held at the President’s Office.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Bank’s CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef expressed the significant impact this project will have on enhancing financial inclusion.
“Bank of Maldives has always prioritised financial inclusion for our communities. We pioneered modern banking solutions in the country with the first ATMs, internet banking, mobile banking, and digital wallets, and we are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to serving the Maldivian community through the expansion of our ATM footprint. By the end of 2025, every Maldivian will have access to essential banking services on their island," he said.
The bank signed an MoU with the Ministry of Economic Development at the event to implement the nationwide project. As part of this project, BML on Thursday opened two new ATMs at ADh. Hangnaameedhoo and Omadhoo.
“The opening of our ATM in Omadhoo also marks a significant milestone for the bank, as it becomes the 150th ATM in our network. As we expand our physical network, we are also committed to enhancing our digital banking services. The bank will continue to innovate to cater the growing needs of its customers, leveraging partnerships with global card networks and payment solution providers to provide seamless and secure banking experiences," Shareef addedd.
With a nationwide network of 39 branches across all 20 atolls, 95 Self Service Banking Centres, 150 ATMs, Agent Banking Service and a full suite of Digital Banking services, Bank of Maldives is committed to supporting individuals, businesses and communities across Maldives.
