Maldives Immigration has initiated a special operation to verify that expatriate workers residing in previously inspected locations are in compliance with visa regulations.
The operation was announced through a post on the department's X account on Wednesday night.
According to the Immigration Department, "There are no foreigners currently living illegally in both the places searched yesterday."
Last year, the department undertook significant efforts to address issues related to expatriates working in Maldives without valid visas or in violation of immigration laws. During these operations, individuals residing illegally were arrested and deported. Additionally, some expatriates were given the opportunity to regularise their immigration status.
The Immigration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all expatriate workers in the country comply with the relevant regulations.
