Arafat deported; No evidence of cat meat food
In recent months, there have been instances of some foreign workers producing and delivering food in unsanitary conditions.
A Bangladeshi national, who operated a kitchen in G. Ranauraageaage on Saharamagu in Male, has been deported after authorities found no evidence supporting allegations that he had consumed or prepared cat meat.
Arafat Hossain, 32, was arrested on August 12 following accusations from the community that he had been bringing cats to the premises and killing them. He was placed in immigration custody while police conducted an investigation into the matter.
In a statement released on Sunday, the police confirmed that there was no evidence indicating that Arafat had used cat meat in any food preparation.
The police noted:

There is insufficient evidence to pursue a criminal investigation.

Following the completion of the investigation, Arafat was deported by the immigration authorities.
