Parliament extends session until Dec 15

Parliament on Wednesday approved extending its current session until December 15.
The decision was made during a vote in which 68 members supported the extension, while 11 opposed it.

Under the existing rules, the session was originally scheduled to end on November 30.
Parliament sessions in the Maldives are divided into three terms:

First term: February 1 to May 15

Second term: June 1 to August 15

Third term: October 1 to November 30
Sessions for each term begin on the first Monday or Thursday following the start date and conclude on the last Thursday or Monday of the term.
The previous session was extended by one week and ended on August 26.
