Court stays Jennifer's employment, compensation

High Court on Tuesday ordered a stay on the enforcement of the Employment Tribunal's decision, which had awarded salary and financial compensation to Aishath Jennifer following her dismissal as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Island Aviation Services (IAS).
The stay was granted on Tuesday after IAS appealed the tribunal's verdict and requested a suspension of its execution.
Jennifer was appointed as DMD of IAS on December 28, 2018, during the tenure of the previous government. She was dismissed on December 28, 2023, following a board meeting under the current administration.
As DMD, Jennifer received a monthly salary of MVR 34,304, along with additional allowances amounting to MVR 21,867.
